Sanitization - Virus Protocols

We prioritize the health and integrity of our plant stock through diligent virus handling practices. While, it is not feasible or cost-effective for us to test every single plant on our farm we do take the health and vigor of our dahlia stock very seriously. Here's how we ensure the utmost care and attention to prevent the spread of disease:

Early Detection and Removal: We closely monitor our plants and tubers during multiple times during the seasons (growing, digging, cutting and storage) and take swift action at the first sign of suspicion. Anything exhibiting suspicious symptoms is promptly culled from our stock to prevent potential spread.

Sanitation Protocols: We maintain strict sanitation protocols throughout our operations. Snips are sanitized between every plant when harvesting or dividing tubers, reducing the risk of cross-contamination.

Pest Management Plan: Our pest management plan includes regular inspections, organic treatments, and soil health initiatives to minimize pest pressure and maintain plant vigor. We will spray as needed to reduce insect pressure, we try to always use organic treatments and we always spray in the evenings. We are always fixated on our soil heather to improve the health and vigor of our plants with less pest pressure.

Diagnostic Testing or Culling: Any plant exhibiting suspect symptoms will either be culled and removed from the field, or it will undergo testing through laboratories such as Agdia. If a plant tests positive for a virus, it is immediately removed from the field to prevent further spread.

Restricted Access: We restrict access to our fields to ensure that only trained personnel handle our plants. This helps maintain a healthy and disease-free environment for our stock.

Commitment to Quality: We take immense pride in producing healthy, high-quality plants. While not every plant undergoes testing, we are dedicated to maintaining a clean growing stock and upholding the highest standards of plant health.

Our commitment to virus handling and sanitation reflects our dedication to providing our customers with the best possible products while ensuring the long-term health and vitality of our plants.
